Food safety additional resources

Codes and standards information, as well as several government agencies that provide extensive food safety resources.

State-specific organizations that provide relevant health-related information.

Presentations and media

Each year, UL staff members deliver numerous presentations on standards development, conformity assessment and technical subjects at educational conferences and other venues. Scientific papers, technical articles and editorial columns are routinely developed by UL staff members and appear in many familiar food safety and related publications.

Codes and Standards development

In addition to publishing food safety standards (e.g., UL 2128, the Standard for Safety of Meat and Poultry Plant Equipment; ANSI/UL 2333, American National Standard for Infrared Thermometers), UL staff members participate on numerous code and standards development and advisory bodies. These include the Councils of the Conference for Food Protection, the Conference's Committees on Facility Plan Review and Accreditation of Certification Organizations, NSF International Joint Committees for Food Equipment and Residential Equipment, AFDO's Meat & Poultry Committee and IAFP's Meat & Poultry Committee.

Council

UL has a distinguished council of outside environmental and public health professionals who advise UL on matters of conformity assessment and standards development.

Industry

UL hosts or participates in industry trade shows, conferences, meetings and other forums — such as the Food Safety Summit, the NRA Show, the National Association of Convenience Stores and others — to exchange information on food safety matters.
